The goal of the ARA (Advancement and Retention in Academe) Faculty Mentoring Program is to enhance the ability of early career faculty to successfully navigate the challenges of academe. The ARA program sponsors training for mentors, professional development workshops, and pairing of assistant professors with trained mentors (ARA Mentor and Mentor pairs). Through these initiatives, the ARA program seeks to enhance early career faculty self-efficacy and satisfaction promoting professional success and retention at UCR.
The ARA program is pleased to announce the first of two professional development workshops in the Spring 2024 quarter.
Leading Successful Teams in the Academe

This interactive workshop will focus on the strategies for and complexities of building successful teams, from leading TAs for a successful course to leading a highly motivated and productive research team. Faculty will discuss and explore key tools, skills and considerations for building successful teams including guiding, motivating and establishing expectations for team members. We will also discuss supervising others from graduate students, TAs, staff, and postdoctoral scholars.
While geared towards the needs of assistant professors, this workshop is open to all CNAS faculty.
