Web2 & Web3 Product Management & Software Development Training
Hi Everyone 👋

Below is a form to fill out if you are interested in participating in a free Q1 2023 cohort (remote/async) to learn Web2 & Web3 product management and software development.

For those who don't yet know me, my name is Will Little (https://www.linkedin.com/in/wclittle/). I co-founded Prota Ventures (https://www.protaventures.com/) and am a Managing Director there. I built my first two tech companies while in grad school in the 2000s and have been investing in startups for the past 12+ years. You can learn more about me and follow my weekly podcast and newsletter at https://satchel.works/@wclittle

For this training, I have two convictions:

1. Most people are not great at "product". Meaning, we think we know what a customer/user wants, but in reality, finding/build/maintaining product-market fit is hard...really hard. The Web3 era has only added to the confusion (and opportunity!) about how to serve customers effectively.

2. Learning to code - specifically to build Web2&3 apps - is extraordinarily empowering. Not only do you get to build an asset (e.g. a startup w/ software IP) that has market value often in the millions USD, but you get to extract rents from that asset (i.e. charge people to use it). This allows you to create wealth for yourself, your employees, your investors, your family, and your community in a way like none other.

Because what I do for a living is invest in the earliest stages of startup creation & growth, teaching people to build products is extremely important to me. I helped co-found Code Fellows about 9-10 years ago - which is one of the most reputable digital trade schools in the USA. I also co-founded BanyanDAO, which is a community of Web3 entrepreneurs and product managers learning and building together.

Because BanyanDAO is all about starting new Web3 organizations - and because I'm interested in developing what Venture Capitalists call "deal flow" (i.e. startups to invest in) - I'm forming a cohort of fellow learners/builders/entrepreneurs around the world to want to:

1. Learn best-practices about how to build a digital product in the Web3 era (i.e. Web3 Product Management, which also requires deep knowledge of Web2 practices).

AND

2. Learn to build web/mobile apps, starting first with Ruby on Rails, Hotwire, and TailwindCSS as an extremely fast way to generate Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) that can extend and scale as needed. This includes looping in Web3 "connect to wallet" features and interacting with smart contracts and blockchains.

You should fill out this form below if:

(A) You would like to join a cohort of people "learning and doing" Web2&3 product management and software development in Q1 2023.

(B) You are proficient in english, async self-study, written communication, and have access to a modern Mac laptop (or are willing to navigate alternative operating systems on your own to follow along).

(C) You are willing to help refine the curriculum and approaches to help the next students.

In good startup and Web3 fashion - this first cohort is going to be free and we are going to incorporate NFTs and one or more DAOs - launching out of BanyanDAO - as part of the process of providing this training to as many people as possible around the world (including in their native language).

Importantly, most of this curriculum will be intentionally high-level and more of a framework that curates the best online learning materials available on the Internet today. I don't feel the need to reinvent the wheel when teaching people to learn Ruby, Git, Rails, shell scripting, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, etc.. If you are looking for a more formal remote classroom experience to learn to code, I'd obviously recommend Code Fellows

Ready? Fill out this quick form and I'll get back to you ASAP. Thanks!

~Will

What is your first name?
What is your last name?
What is your email address?
What is your LinkedIn URL?
What is your Twitter URL?
Why are you interested in learning to code and developing your Web2 & Web3 product skills?
What is your technical skill level? Do you have a modern Mac laptop (within 5 years old)? Have you written code before? Have you built technical products before?
(You will still be able to participate in this cohort if you don't have a Mac, FYI, but you'll need to use slightly different tools than the rest of us when learning. This will require a bit of extra effort)
Is there anything else I should know when evaluating your application to this cohort? Any other questions/comments?
While I won't be able to accept everyone, I'll do my best to help each applicant out.

FYI this is going to be a mostly-self-directed, online, async, learning cohort of technical entrepreneurs. There is no minimum time commitment, but I'd like to know you are serious about participating.

There will be no cost for Q1 2023. My only ask is that you help us refine our approach/curriculum for the next cohort (and help "pay it forward" to assist the next generation of learners).
