My name is Danielle Robbertze, a Master’s degree in Journalism student at the University of Johannesburg I am currently conducting a study looking at the consumption patterns of readers of News24/Netwerk24. I would like to invite you to take part in this study as a participant as you are either a reader or subscriber to one or both of the relevant platforms – News24/ Netwerk24. As a consumer of the abovementioned platforms (either daily, weekly, or bi-weekly), makes you an eligible and suitable participant. The survey should take you approximately 10 minutes to complete. AIM OF THE STUDY

This study aims to understand the consumption patterns of readers of News24/Netwerk24

RESEARCH

Participants will take part in an online survey where relevant questions relating to Afrikaans/English language and online news consumption on Netwerk24/New24 platforms will be asked.

What are my rights as a participant?

Your participation is voluntary and you can stop at any time without giving any reason.

Are there any risks or discomforts involved in the study?

Participants have the choice not to answer questions which they are not comfortable with.

Are there any benefits?

The benefits are the production of knowledge of online consumption patterns for online news platforms in South Africa. There are no immediate material benefits.

Is there any cost to me taking part in the interview?

No

Will I be paid?

No payment will be made to participants.

Will my responses remain confidential?  

Information provided through the survey will be published. Your identity will be protected and no personal details such as name, address or occupation will be made public.

ETHICAL APPROVAL

This study proposal has been approved by the University of Johannesburg Faculty Of Humanities Research Ethics Committee.
