2024 Bay Section Leadership Conference  Sign-up Form
California Future Business Leaders of America (CA FBLA) is committed to providing opportunities for high school students to grow as professionals and as individuals. One of the key tools in that effort is our competitive events program. CA FBLA competitions allow students to demonstrate their competency in a wide range of business skills while developing their self-confidence and poise. The CA FBLA competitive events program includes interviews, speeches, team presentations, and objective tests. The opportunity for students to perform in front of current business leaders makes this experience much more valuable and educational.

To make the competitive event experience as rich as possible for these young, future business leaders, we need help from community members and alumni. Our Bay Section Leadership Conference is coming up on Saturday, February 10, 2024, and I am asking for your help in making this conference a success.

There are 4 ways you can help,
1.  Judge at the conference at Homestead High School in Cupertino, on February 10th. This option would require you to be present at Homestead High School.

2.  Judge the Future Business Leader or Job Interview events that would require some pre-judged work to be completed and results submitted by February 4, 2024, AND be present at Homestead High School in Cupertino, on February 10th.

3.  Judge the pre-judged events. This would require completing the judging of the event by February 4, 2024. This judging option does NOT require you to attend the conference at Homestead High School.

4.  Assist at the conference as an event facilitator. This option would require your attendance at the conference at Homestead High School on February 10, 2024.

For onsite events, you will be given specific instructions on the event you have agreed to judge by one of our event administrators. However, I want to share a few general notes beforehand.

1. Be familiar with the event you are judging. When the event administrator briefs you, be sure to ask questions if directions seem unclear or you are unsure of the scope of the event.

2. Determine in advance how you plan to evaluate students against your standards and expectations.

3. Allow a little bit of time to review all rating sheets again at the conclusion of the event to be sure the final scores lead to the actual ranking you intended.

4. Please assist our students by making appropriate written comments on the rating sheet for each participant. While comments will not declare a winner, as an educator, I find this kind of feedback to be more important to the growth of student learning than the numerical score. This is your opportunity to provide helpful feedback to both the student and their teacher/adviser.

Preparing today’s students for a meaningful career and/or continuing education is absolutely essential to the continued growth of our economy and society. Your participation will help us achieve that objective. Thank you again for your time and service, I am confident that you will enjoy the experience.
