Masaar is the Arabic word for a progressive path. It was developed in response to the changing face of the Ethnic Minority community in the Forth Valley region. The new generation of parents were looking for an outlet for their children in which they would develop while meeting new friends who share their interests, faith or culture.
Our aim is to bring together different parts of our community to:
- Provide peer to peer support by bringing like minded individuals together.
- Develop skills amongst ethnic minority youths and adults to enable them to become confident members of the Scottish society they live in.
- Provide a positive understanding and awareness of Islam to the wider community to build better relations.
- Provide practical and social support to members of the local Ethnic Minority community especially those facing isolation and vulnerability through outreach services.
- Inform local and national organisations in consultations on issue that affect our communities most to improve services.
We are pleased to be able to offer a support group to new and /or vulnerable mothers in a culture they can access. We explore areas such as mental and health wellbeing, social and skills development for both mothers and child(ren).
We have children and young people from many different backgrounds and diverse cultures that come together to play, develop skills and socialise. We aim to promote health and wellbeing and well as provide support to the children on various issues. We will look to explore other physical activities, depending on children’s feedback.
