How do you or your child like to learn? Some people learn from reading, others from hearing, others from using their hands. Can you assist us in preparing to help you succeed by sharing any preferences with us in advance? It's okay if not! It's just nice for us to have a reference so we can keep coming up with ideas for you.
Please let us know about any additional needs below. This can be allergies, access needs, or anything else we can do to help you succeed.
The first lesson of the year is a meeting between the teacher, student, and, if the student is under 18, their parent/guardian. The teacher will talk you through what to expect in a lesson, how to use Zoom for lessons in case we need to, how to practise, expectations, and answer any questions you may have. For 25-minute students, this will take up your whole time slot. For 50-minute students, there will still be time to do a 30-minute lesson after your meeting. *
Required
Parent/Guardian Policy: We don't allow parents/guardians or friends/siblings to spectate during any of our lessons or classes...all in attendance must be participants. That's not to be mean, we promise! The presence of an authority figure like a parent, guardian, or other adult relation besides the teacher, or a friend or sibling, can be very distracting to a student, and makes the lesson or class unnecessarily difficult for the teacher. We will excitedly welcome audience members at our public performances in the Spring! *
Required
The doorbell: There is a doorbell on the front door, because we occasionally need to lock the building for security reasons during classes. The doorbell connects directly to Shanoa's classroom. If you arrive and the door is locked, don't fret! Just ring the doorbell and Shanoa will come let you in. *
Required
Attendance Policy: There is one make-up class available per semester which you may attend if you have missed any lessons. There are no other make-up lessons available.

Please ensure you have reviewed the scheduled dates for lessons.

Zoom Policy: Some lessons during the year will be on Zoom due to performances in our theatre. Additionally, if circumstances require (for example, power outage), we may move a lesson to Zoom at any time. We'll always give as much notice as possible. You will be provided with a Google Drive folder containing all materials necessary to complete your lesson online. If the student falls ill or you are travelling, you can opt to move your lesson online by emailing studio@shakespearebythesea.ca. Please let us know (before Shanoa starts teaching for the day) that you'd like to be online, and she will set you up with a Zoom link. If you don't tell her before she starts teaching for the day, you may miss out on minutes at the beginning of your lesson time while she gets you organized to be online. *
