SFNOMA will be hosting our 2021 Project Pipeline summer camp this July. This year's camp will be an eight day virtual intensive studio-based program that introduces middle school students (ages 12 to 14) to the professions of architecture and planning. Students will learn and practice sketching, architectural drawing, model making, critical thinking, and public speaking skills during this program.
The camp will run from July 12th to July19th virtually from 9 am to 5 pm. We need our community of volunteers to be available for scheduled virtual check-ins throughout this time for 4-6 hours. Please see availability below for more detailed information and timing. We plan to pair mentors to allow some flexibility, however, we would like camp volunteers to make three out of the four days. We will be hosting a Volunteer Orientation Wednesday, July 7th, 6:00 PM-8:30 PM and Saturday, July 10th, 10 AM-12:30 PM and, this will be required for all volunteers. Please fill out this volunteer registration form if you're interested in joining us for the 2021 camp. We hope to see you!
Additionally we will be putting together kits of materials for each student and will need help to assembly the kits as well as hand out the kits at distribution points in Oakland and San Francisco. The creation of the kits will occur between June 26 - June 30 at a site TBD. The distribution of kits will occur between the dates of July 6th-10th locations TBD
If you are a college student or working through IDP hours, please note that volunteering for this camp may provide credit towards the "Practice Management 4B, Leadership and Service" IDP requirement.
