Do you think we should systematically model human movements? If so, which direction do you think is promising and why it would be better than current methods, e.g., end-to-end human action recognition methods?
Tell us an application of emotion recognition that is the most appealing to you and tell us an application of emotion recognition that could be carried out with current technology.
Laban notation, originally proposed by Rudolf Laban (1971), is used for documenting body movement of dancing such as ballet. Laban movement analysis (LMA) uses four compo- nents to record human body movements: body, effort, shape, and space. Do you think Laban Movement Analysis(LMA) can be introduced for bodily expression or human action as a counterpart of facial action coding system (FACS) to facial expression? If not, what’s the limitation? Is there any other alternative for LMA?
To build a human movement coding system, what kind of data do you think we should collect? Why are they important?
Do you think 3D representation of human pose (representing human pose with XYZ coordinates of sparse joints) is sufficient for bodily expression recognition? Or for human action recognition? What are the reasons?
Do you think the SMPL model (representing human pose with human mesh/dense points) is sufficient for bodily expression recognition? Or for human action recognition? What are the reasons?
What do you think is the biggest blocker for automated emotion recognition?
What other suggestions you may have for this research?
