Parental permission: Because the award nominations for Lone Star Award include the age ranges of 11-15, it is a possibility that some material in the books may be considered more mature in nature. While your child will never be forced to read anything that may upset them, they may be exposed to content that they would not find in a PISD middle school classroom. This is NOT the norm but if something were to be nominated that is more mature in nature, we need to know that you, as a parent are aware it is a possibility.
