Expression of Interest to Join - Centre for Advanced Referee Development (CARD) 2024

  • This is an expression of interest to join the 2024 CARD Program. Some referees may be asked to submit further information for consideration to be selected for the program in 2024. 
About CARD 
  • The CARD program is a high-level referee program targeted towards referees officiating the highest-level competitions in Alberta such as the Alberta Youth Soccer League (AYSL), Alberta Major Soccer League (AMSL), League1 Alberta, and Collegiate Soccer (USports & ACAC). Officials in the CARD program will be considered for appointments for these games.
  • It is expected that referees who apply to join this program have shown and have a commitment to bettering themselves as referees. This can be by either attending education sessions, mock fitness tests, or applying for ASA referee upgrading.   • Female Referees: The CARD program has a specialized development program for female referees and we invite any female referee under the age of 28 to apply to join the program in 2024 regardless of experience.

Important Information on Joining the CARD Program 

General Requirements to Be Considered to Join the Program
  • Referees must have at least 1 year experience 
  • Referees must be at least 16 years old

Fitness Requirements to be Accepted to Join the Program

  • Referees must pass a fitness test before June 2024 
  • ALL referees in CARD must be able to pass the regional fitness standard
  • If a referee is rated provincial, they must pass the provincial fitness standard
  • Level 3 CARD members must pass the FIFA fitness standard
