Designing Multimedia Presentations and Visuals
Please join us from 1-3 pm PDT on Wednesday, April 10.
(Virtual Workshop.  Zoom link will be sent to registrants closer to workshop date.)

Drawing from cross-disciplinary research on perception and cognition, this workshop will provide evidence-based practical tips that help you make complex content understandable and engaging in multimedia presentations.  You will come away knowing how to optimize both your narration and visuals--select language, optimize figures, lay out slides, structure your story and enhance accessibility.  With a little insight into biochemistry and physiology, we will also debunk a common myth about presentation nerves and to boost your presentation poise.

The presenter is S. L. Seethaler, author of the newly published (by the University of Toronto Press) peer-reviewed communication guide Beyond the Sage on the Stage: Communicating Science and Contemporary Issues Effectively

The first hour of the workshop will be the presentation portion.  The second hour will be an interactive constructive critique of slides submitted by workshop attendees.  For this portion, Seethaler will be joined by the other members of the RCP team, Mario Aguilera, Debbie Meyer and Kim Rubinstein.  If you would like to submit materials for critique, please indicate that on the registration form.

This workshop is presented by the UC San Diego Research Communications Program https://researchcommunications.ucsd.edu, which is funded by a grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.  It is open to CZ Biohub Affiliates, all in the UC San Diego campus community, and our other partners.
