Step 1 – Read Parade rules and regulations
1. a) “Parade Group” shall mean and include the organization submitting this form and all its parade participants.
b) “Parade Official” shall mean any person authorized by the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Inc. to assist in the supervision and operation of the parade.
c) Hereinafter “Parade Group” and “Parade Participant” may be used interchangeably in this form.
2. All Parade Groups MUST follow all directions and instructions given by Parade Officials. Decisions on the application and interpretation of these rules and regulations are in the exclusive purview of the Parade Officials.
3. Unless it is a designated parade rest stop, Parade Groups are not permitted to stop and perform anywhere along the parade route if such stop or performance in any way disrupts the flow of the parade. All Groups must insure they are keeping pace with the Parade Group ahead of them and there are no unreasonable gaps which interrupt the flow of the parade. A Parade Group may request permission to perform for up to three (3) minutes at the review stand located at the end of the parade route. Prior permission MUST be obtained for this performance.
4. Children under the age of eight (8) may ride, but are not allowed to march in the parade unless accompanied and directly supervised by an adult or adults at all times.
5. Drinking of alcohol or consuming illegal substances by parade participants is not permitted at any time during the parade or its formation.
6. As a safety precaution, no candy or other objects shall be thrown in any way by Parade Groups. No items may be handed out from any area where spectators need to step off the sidewalk to retrieve them. Leafleting for political endorsement/issues or campaign purposes by any Parade Participant once the parade has commenced is prohibited.
7. A licensed, qualified driver must operate any and all vehicles in the parade. Drivers must be a minimum of twenty one years of age. Vehicle must not be left unattended. Vehicles must proceed along the parade route at no more than five miles per hour. Riders may not join floats or vehicles after the parade has commenced.
8. Each Parade Group must clean up all materials or debris left by your group whether in the staging area or along the parade route.
9. Parade Groups must obey all Rhode Island State and local laws.
10. Parade Groups shall clearly identify a person or persons in charge of their Group who may be contacted by Marshals or other Parade Officials before and during the parade.
11. Parade Groups who have committed to march in the parade but cannot honor their obligations due to unforeseen circumstances shall make every effort to call the Parade contact number and make the Committee aware at least four hours prior to the parade.
12. All Parade Groups and individuals MUST march in their assigned spots.
13. Late arrivals will be placed in a location that is easily accessible to the Marshal.
14. The Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee reserves final discretion with regard to the selection process for Parade Groups chosen to participate in the Parade.
15. Parade Groups violating any of these rules may, at the discretion of the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Inc., be disqualified from awards and denied entry in future parades.
16. In the event any rule or regulation herein is adjudged unenforceable by a court of law, it shall be stricken and the remaining rules and regulations shall, to the extent possible, remain in full force and effect and be fully binding upon the parties hereto.

Step 2 – Read Additional Requirements
Advertising Release: In consideration for authorization from the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Inc. to participate in the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and by execution of this form, the Parade Group agrees to permit the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Inc. to use their name, logos and/or photographs, films or tapes of the Parade Group for publicity, advertising and commercial promotion, before, during and after the event, and gives permission to publish or sell or otherwise use or dispose of said photographs, films or tapes without any further compensation to the Parade Group.

Participants Liability Release and Indemnification Agreement: In further agreement for the aforementioned authorization and execution, I, the duly authorized agent and representative of the Parade Group and each of its participants, hereby release and discharge the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Inc., its officers, directors, employees, representatives, the City of Providence and anyone else connected with management, presentation or operation of the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade from any and all known or unknown damages, injuries, losses, judgments and/or claims from any cause whatsoever that may be suffered by any such participant to his/her/its person or property. Furthermore, the Parade Group and/or each member or participant of the Parade Group expressly agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Inc., its officers, directors, employees, representatives, the City of Providence and anyone else connected with management, presentation or operation of the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade, from any and all liability howsoever incurred or suffered by the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Inc. and/or such others as stated above; including reasonable attorney fees and costs occasioned or resulting from the actions or conduct of the Parade Group.

Proof of Insurance: Each Parade Group must affirm it that has in effect general liability insurance for the group and liability insurance/valid registration for all vehicles to be used in the parade as provided by Rhode Island law at the time of the parade.
