We are thrilled to be able to offer additional International Service Team (IST) places for the European Jamboree in northern Poland during the summer of 2020.
This is a major international event involves thousands of Explorers from across Europe enjoying a 12 day camp between Monday 27th July to Thursday 6th August 2020 on Sobieszewo Island, near the city of Gdansk in northern Poland.
Jamborees are an amazing Scouting experience where you will get the chance to meet a wide range of people and support thousands of young people to develop and have the most fantastic time. However, they rely on a huge team of IST members to make them happen.
IST will be offered a wide range of roles to take part in from programme, sub camps, pastoral, logistics and so much more. So whatever your age, physical ability or skill set there will be a role that you could do and help make this the best Scouting experience for many of these young people. More information can be found through
https://ej2020.org/ist/Birmingham is taking 2 Units of young people to the Jamboree and we are looking to offer them a flight from the UK to Poland, 2 days around Krakow before going north to the Jamboree and then flying back to the UK after the Jamboree.
We hope to be able to offer this same package to the IST, all be it possibly a few days before the unit leaves, should you want it. There will also be an option to arrange your own travel arrangements and not partake in our planned pre-event tour. The Jamboree have also recently announced that there may be organised pre-event tours which will be offered on a first come basis later in the year.
If you wish to apply for an IST place then you need to be aged 18 or over by 27th July 2020 and need to apply through the County and we would ask you to fill out the below from by 21st September 2019.
We are unable at this stage to confirm the exact cost of the event for IST. We are looking to offer two price options.
Option A: where we organise your flights and a couple of days in Poland before at around £900.
Option B: you organise your own transport and attend the Jamboree for £265.
If you have any questions or problems filling in this form please email
paul.barlow@birminghamscouts.org.ukPlease realise that you have to be a current member of Birmingham Scouting to apply for this IST role and remain a member of Scouting until and during the Jamboree.
