Dear IWC volunteers:  

In the last 4 years, we have witnessed the destruction of the asylum system--day by day, policy after policy.   It is time once again for each of us to take action.  

Would you like to end this assault on asylum seekers? If so, let us join the John Lewis non-violent movement of America to save the asylum system from further destruction and to make it the best in the world by encouraging people to vote.
 
The Rev. James Lawson’s eulogy for the Honorable Congressman John Lewis noted that “John Lewis practiced the politics that we the people of the U.S. need more desperately than ever before — the politics of the Declaration of Independence, the politics of the preamble to the Constitution of the United States.  John Lewis called what we did between 1953 to 1973 the non-violent movement of America."
 
Then Lawson quoted Lewis’ own words, “Voting and participating in the democratic process are key. The vote is the most powerful non-violent change agent you have in a democratic society.”

I am inviting each of us who are witnesses to the plight of asylum seekers, who listen to and befriend immigrants as they come through San Antonio, to take more action.  Please take on the task to encourage citizens in Bexar County to exercise their right to vote in the November 2020 elections.
