Thank you for your interest in the 'Essential Messages' project of Barents Spektakel 2021!
Thinking about the ‘essential’ has been important throughout 2020, not only for governments managing the Coronavirus pandemic, but for many of us negotiating new, everyday ways of being in the world.
Amidst the uncertainty of the global health crisis, activities such as work, movement, communication, and a whole spectrum of social actions, are all prompting questions relating to what is ‘necessary’, ‘key’, or ‘essential’ within a range of conversations, contexts and perspectives.
Pikene på Broen would like to hear from as many voices as possible on this topic (especially from those within, or connected to the Barents region), and to make visible these perspectives during the Barents Spektakel festival between the 17. and 21. February 2021.
These ‘Essential Messages’ will appear on posters, placards, flags and screens in Kirkenes, and at Russian venues run by our Russian partners during the festival. Some messages will also appear on our website and social media.
