[ECRs] Support for Overseas Research Fellowships at "Grantham Institute - Imperial College London" (Application deadline: 16th December 2022)

【趣旨】
京都大学欧州拠点は海外で研究経験を積みたいと志す若手研究者の自発的な挑戦を積極的に後押ししています。その一環として、Grantham Institute-Imperial College London（https://www.imperial.ac.uk/grantham/ )の協力を得て、「JSPS海外特別研究員」制度を活用して、Grantham Institute-Imperial College Londonで長期間研究に専念する事を自ら志向する京都大学所属の若手研究者に対して支援を行います。

具体的には、申請要件を満たす京都大学の若手研究者に対して以下の支援を行います。
(1) 京都大学欧州拠点所長名で申請者に対して「推薦状」作成
(2) 京都大学欧州拠点所スタッフ※が計画書作成へのアドバイス支援
(3) 京都大学欧州拠点所スタッフ※が必要に応じて受入れ先と交渉支援
※欧州拠点スタッフ（拠点所長、リサーチ・アドミニストレーター(URA）、現地スタッフ）

「JSPS海外特別研究員」制度の採択率は約20%と競争率が高く人気がある制度です。本フェローシップを獲得するためには、特に、審査の観点③「研究計画が具体的であることと、申請者と受入研究者との事前交渉が十分に行われている事等」を十分に満たすように早期に受入研究者と申請に向けた準備を進める事が重要です。本支援プログラムでは、経済的な支援を申請者へ提供する用意はございませんが、志の高い若手研究者の挑戦を少しでも後押しする事に繋がる事を意図しております。

※JSPS海外特別研究員制度は、「申請時において、日本国籍を持つ者、又は日本に永住を許可されている外国人」が対象です。
　
[Aims]
Kyoto University European Center supports early career researchers (ECRs) from Kyoto University who wish to devote themselves to long-term research at the Grantham Institute - Imperial College London ( https://www.imperial.ac.uk/grantham/ ) under the JSPS Overseas Fellowship Program. To do so, Kyoto University European Centre will provide the following supports for ECRs from Kyoto University;

(1) Providing a letter of recommendation to the applicant by the Director of Kyoto University European Center
(2) Providing advice on writing research plan at the Grantham Institute - Imperial College London by staff (*)
(3) Providing advice on negotiations with host researcher as necessary by staff (*)

(*) Our staff at European Center including the Director, University Research Administrator (URA) and local staff

The "JSPS Overseas Research Fellowship" scheme is highly competitive and popular, with an adoption rate of around 20%. In order to be awarded this fellowship, it is particularly important to make preparations for the application with the host researcher at an early stage, so as to fully satisfy the review point (iii): the research plan must be concrete and there must be sufficient prior negotiations between the applicant and the host researcher. This support programme is not prepared to provide financial support to applicants, but it is intended to encourage young, ambitious researchers to take up the challenge.

*The JSPS Overseas Postdoctoral Researcher Scheme is open to "Japanese citizens or foreign nationals who are permitted permanent residents in Japan at the time of application".

JSPS海外特別研究員（2024年度）へ応募資格の確認 (次の要件を全て満たすことが必要です) / Confirmation of eligibility for the JSPS Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship (2024) [All of the following requirements must be met] *

京都大学に所属する研究者もしくは博士課程後期学生であること/Must be a researcher or doctoral student affiliated with Kyoto University

2024年4月1日で、博士の学位を取得後5年未満の者（2019年4月2日以降に学位を取得した者）なお、申請時においては見込みでもよい。/1 April 2024, less than five years after receiving the doctoral degree (those who received their degree on or after 2 April 2019). Note that the applicant may be a prospective student at the time of application.

2024年4月1日、大学研究機関の任期の定め無い常勤研究職の職歴が過去通算して5年未満の者/1 April 2024, those who have held a full-time research position with no fixed term at a university research institute for less than five years in total in the past.

申請時において、日本国籍を持つ者、又は日本に永住を許可されている外国人/ Japanese Nationality or Foreigners permitted to reside permanently in Japan.
