Characterization:
The characterization team focuses on evaluating the structure of a material. This includes using the Scanning Electron Microscope, the FTIR, the UV-Vis, and other X-ray equipment. The characterization team will analyze things such as the crystallinity of a sample, composition and bonding of the sample, and the deformations that a sample may have experienced.

Measurement:
The measurement team focuses on measuring the properties of a material. These include mechanical properties, thermal properties, optical properties, and electrical properties. The measurement team makes use of the Instron and Mark-10 mechanical testers, the DSC, the UV/vis spectrometer, and various pieces of electrical property evaluation equipment.

Processing:
The processing team focuses on making materials. The primary focus is on 3D printing of various filaments like PLA, ABS, PEEK, infused materials such as wood, stainless steel, and magnetic iron, and etc. These are primarily done on Ultimakers, Prusas, and Dimension 3D printers. Hyrel 3D printers are used to print in ceramics, clays, and other extrudable materials. The processing team also helps manage equipment for making glass art and ceramics.
