CZC Pre-Event Level Assessment
Video assessments are an alternate process for our Advanced and Challenge level classes in advance of the event.

Duplicate submissions will not be reassessed.

TIMELINES
Video assessments must be submitted no later than May 1, 2024.

Videos will be assessed by teachers who will teach the Advanced and Challenge track. Results will be communicated by email on the following dates:
  • By January 31, 2024 for videos submitted by December 31, 2023
  • By April 30, 2024 for videos submitted by March 31, 2024
  • By May 10, 2024 for videos submitted by May 1, 2024
CHOOSING AN ASSESSMENT VIDEO
You must enter your name as it appears on your ticket and the email associated with your ticket, and include links to videos of you dancing Brazilian Zouk dance that is:
  • Improvised and unrehearsed
  • No more than three minutes long (in longer videos, only the first 3 minutes will be assessed)
  • With a partner (your choice)
  • Shows your full body for the majority of the video (seeing your feet and upper body is important)
Your video(s) should ideally include:
  • Moments of partner separation (for example, wifi turns, soltinho or bonus)
  • Zouk foundational movements (for example, lateral, simple turn, basic, soltinho, viradinha, raul, bonus, yo-yo)
  • Isolations and undulations (body waves)
  • Head/Upper Body Movement
  • Travelling Head/Upper Body Movement (for Challenge level)
Concepts like counterbalance, one-footed turns, etc. will be considered in assessing the whole dance, but are not mandatory.

PRIVATE FILES
If you are submitting a video in a folder or on a private channel, make sure that permissions are set to allow us to look at the video.

HOW DECISIONS ARE MADE
Video assessors will look at the dance in the video. This means they will look at your timing, technique, and connection skills exhibited in the video. The person being assessed is responsible for submitting a video that shows their skill properly.

If your video does not clearly demonstrate your skills (for example, you are dancing with a partner who is unable to perform the movements or the assessors cannot see your feet or tell if you are on time), assessors will likely place you in the Intermediate division.

You are still able to do an on-site assessment if you participate in the pre-event assessment and disagree with the result.
