CFSW 2019 Volunteer Application
The 16th annual Canadian Festival of Spoken Word (CFSW) takes place Sunday, October 13 to Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Guelph, Ontario. The festival includes the national slam team competition as well as showcases, workshops and social events. Volunteers are an integral part of the festival, and we look forward to working with you!

There are several jobs for volunteers from working door, helping with the slams through time/score keeping, hosting, active listening, and much more. The bulk of our volunteer positions take place during the festival, but we also have some important pre-festival tasks that can start as soon as August. We will ask you about your availability and choice of roles as part of the application.

CFSW volunteers receive perks depending on their role and the number of 2-3 hour shifts they take on. In general, but with some exceptions:

2+ shifts = one ticket to finals
4+ shifts = one ticket to finals plus one ticket to another festival event (workshop, showcase, etc.)
6+ shifts = festival pass (includes 1 workshop)

We're happy to sign off on hours for any volunteer requirements you're currently looking to complete.

As the official 2019 Festival Organizing Committee (FOC), we are committed to following the values and mandates set out by the festival's governing body currently known as SpoCan. If you are interested in participating in the festival, please review SpoCan's Code of Honour:
