Completion of this application and approval constitutes a contract between SWRHS and the student and parents who agree to the following:

* The online learning environment is an independent learning environment. This means that while there is an online learning lab facilitator, he/she does not monitor the daily academic progress of each student. While NCVPS does provide progress reports, it is up to each individual student to monitor his/her own daily progress.
* If a student struggles with an online course, he/she must contact the online teacher for assistance. If the student requires further help, he/she must let the online learning lab facilitator know so he/she can find assistance.
* Online courses are scheduled into a student's class schedule to provide the student with an opportunity to work on his/her classes during the regular school day. This is NOT a study hall period, a social hour, or personal time.
* Students that are not able to demonstrate that they are independent learners by signing in to their courses every day, keeping up on their assignments and staying on task, may be removed from the course with an earned F in the online course.
* Students have 5 days from when the online course begins to request a change. After the 5th day, online course schedules will not be dropped without academic penalty.
* AP courses are yearlong and cannot be dropped after the 5th day of the fall semester only. Students in these courses must be proactive about seeking help when challenges present themselves.
* Students that demonstrate that they are not successful in the online environment will not be allowed to register for future online courses.
