The Race Inclusion Students’ Advisory Committee will operate a ‘safe space’ policy in which BAME students and attendees are able to meet, discuss, offer views, share respective experiences without repercussions. The views and confidentiality of all attendees shall be respected and will be in line with the Union and University’s Acceptable Behaviour Policy i.e. treating others with courtesy, respect, and consideration.

The Race Inclusion Students’ Advisory Committee is a strategic, consultative, and support group for BAME Students that will represent BAME student voice, raise issues of race, suggest positive actions and changes, and will provide a link with the University’s Senior Management and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) structures and processes.

1. Mentorship opportunities within the University.

2. Attend monthly meetings of the Race Inclusion Student Advisory group.

3. Promote the interest of BAME students at Swansea University

4. Raise awareness of BAME issues and provide support to BAME students

5. Participate in overseeing and supporting the BAME Student Experience in terms of events and campaigns.

6. Review and consider institutional policies and procedures and how these impacts on matters related to Race for BAME students.

7. Support and compliment the work of Equality Committee and EDI (Equality Diversity and Inclusivity) Group on matters pertaining to race.
