Huzzah! We're excited to have merchants at the Royal Medieval Faire Saturday, September 17, 2022! An integral part of the theme of the day for our more than 5000 attendees who enjoy looking at interesting and hand-crafted wares.
------------------------------------------
RECOMMENDATIONS
------------------------------------------
- Handcrafted goods and unique crafts sell well, even if there is overlap. Handmade jewelry in unique materials do better than general non-artist made jewelry or items people could just purchase at a store
- Interactive crafts (where they participate in the creation and take that item home) are very popular
- Food needs vary from snacks to full lunch.
- RMF is a family event with many young children, so less expensive ($5/$10/$20) often do the best, some mid-tier merchandise does well ($40-$60) and the high-end merchandise may or may not have a good day dependent upon interest ($300 sword for example) -- we suggest having a range of things to sell to have a good day
- If the weather isn't fantastic, the public generally hides under vendors tents. On our worst day in 20+ years (a 100mm rain downpour) we still had ~1800 people come out for the day.
- Getting into theme and character is requested. We ask vendors to dress in "medieval theme" and decorate their vendor site (if it isn't sufficient) to try and preserve the character and ambiance -- we could possibly reject vendors if they aren't sufficiently representing the theme of the day

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
------------------------------------------
Non-Food Vendors: if you require power to your site, you must bring your own extension cords. Powered sites are limited, so we recommend that you bring an alternative power supply (i.e. generator) if at all possible. It is also possible that due to the City of Waterloo’s infrastructure plans for Waterloo Park, there may be no or minimal power service available to vendors. If this were to be the case, RMF will immediately inform you of these changes.
Costume availability: Rentals & tabards may be limited. You will be notified ASAP by the Vendor Coordinator if a costume cannot be provided and you have asked for one.
Weapons vendors have a responsibility to ensure that patrons aren't walking around the faire grounds with newly purchased swords/axes/etc. There are police onsite to help us manage it and vendors whom don't help manage this (by holding purchased weapons until the patron leaves the park won't be invited back. All weapons must be properly boxed/wrapped. We do actively check, so please help us in this goal.
We are going to give preferential treatment to those vendors who request a consistent site location from previous years, provided they are paying the vendor fee before the due-date. We will still consider vendors past the due-dates, however, it doesn't mean your application will be accepted.

CHANGES FOR 2022
------------------------------------------
We will continue to use auto-deposit for e-transfers this year. If your bank has this option, you will not need to provide a password for the e-transfer. See below for payment instructions.
Our COVID 19 policy: We will be following whatever recommendations Waterloo Region Public Health has at the time of the Faire. If your vending site requires specific recommendations it will be up to you as the vendor to post signage for the patrons. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
