As we head into a new year, we are seeking passionate, talented, energetic Slow Food supporters to take an active role in building an equitable, just, and healthy local food system that truly works for all of us—in short, a food system that is good, clean and fair. This year, we are particularly interested in new board members with experience in communications, event planning, fundraising, volunteer engagement, and donor cultivation though all backgrounds are encouraged to put their information forward.
In order to be considered, eligible nominees must be current, paid-up members of Slow Food USA as of 12/31/22 (interested candidates can visit SlowFoodUSA.org/Membership to join if not already registered), though keep in mind that members are welcome to self-nominate or make multiple nominations on behalf of community members. Please keep in mind that
nominations must be submitted by Saturday, Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. ET in order to be considered, at which time the finalized ballot will be emailed to our membership for them to cast their votes shortly thereafter. Following an interview process and ballot voting by our paid-up members, selected applicants will begin their board term in February 2023 serving in either a full-term (three-year) or alternate (one-year) leadership role.
As part of the Slow Food USA network, our local chapter is dedicated to the development of an equitable, just, and healthy local food system that truly works for all of us. We encourage a diverse range of perspectives and experiences at our table to best reflect the varied needs of our entire community. As part of this commitment, new board members are expected to agree to a code of conduct aligned with our organization's equity, inclusion, and justice manifesto. If you have any questions, please contact the Slow Food NYC 2023 Elections Committee at
info@slowfoodnyc.org. We look forward to hearing from you and please keep in mind that self-nominations are welcome and encouraged.
