We are very fortunate that we are a “Walk and Bike” school. We have many families who enjoy this morning and afternoon activity and it is our goal to make sure all of our students arrive to and from school safely. Parents giving written permission for their child to walk home recognize the school’s responsibility for the safety of the child does not extend beyond school supervised areas. Therefore, parents must complete an updated walker/biker waiver form each year giving permission for their child to obtain a walker/biker pass.

In the event of inclement weather we communicate with families of walkers/bike riders by The Blackboard® phone system. Your child must use the alternate mode of transportation chosen on their walker/biker waiver form and noted on the back of their walker tag. New for 22-23, if you complete the walker/biker waiver, there is a question that asks for an alternative method of transportation on rainy days but allows you to have your child still walk/bike. There is also an inclement weather (indicated by weather advisories and a Blackboard message from TCES) your child will be sent their alternate route.

Which most describes your child? *

Selfie Walker/Biker is defined, "My child is in 3rd - 5th Grade and allowed to walk/bike alone to and/or from school. Students will be released immediately with/without an adult or guardian present." Students in K - 2 do not have this option.

A Sibling/Guardian Walker/Biker is defined as "My child will walk/bike with an older sibling to and/or from school." I understand that a TCES staff member will ensure students are released as a group.

Front Walkers - will be dismissed from the end of the Kindergarten Hallway by Gold Hill Rd. Parents will need to wait at the bike rack for their students. A staff member will escort the parent walkers to the bike racks to meet their parents.

Back Path Walkers - will be dismissed from the back of the school building's back playground. Parents will need to meet their students at the top of the stairs in the back of the school.

As the parent/guardian, I recognize that the school's responsibility for the safety of my child does not extend beyond school supervised areas during the walk/bike ride home. Signing below indicates that I understand the walker/bike rider procedures, I have indicated how my child should go home if it rains, and I've chosen an alternate transportation in the event of inclement weather (indicated by weather advisories and a Blackboard message from TCES). I also understand that my child(ren) could lose their privilege to walk/ride their bike to and/or from school if they are observed walking to or from a parked car. Children and families are asked to refrain from playing outside the school after dismissal. Children are asked to go directly home. To ensure student safety, car riders must follow our car rider procedure. *
