Keep Up Your Writing Habit This Summer with Writing Together Online

Summer provides an amazing opportunity for academic writers, but if your writing time is unstructured, it is easy to miss this opportunity. Writing Together Online offers the structured writing time to help you stay focused and productive during the summer months. Join our daily 90-minute writing sessions and become part of a community of scholars who connect online, set realistic goals, and write together in the spirit of accountability and camaraderie. The program is open to all MIT students, postdocs, faculty, staff, and affiliates who are working on papers, proposals, thesis/dissertation chapters, application materials, and other writing projects.

The Summer 2023 writing marathon consists of two challenges:

Challenge 1: Monday, June 5, through Friday, June 30
Holiday Break: July 3–7
Challenge 2: Monday, July 10, through Friday, August 4

Please register for any number of WTO sessions: Mondays 9:30–11am
Tuesdays 8–9:30am and 9:30–11am
Wednesdays 9:30–11am
Thursdays 8–9:30am and 9:30–11am
Fridays  9:30–11am

2. Set up your laptop, books, articles, water, and snacks before your session.
3. Think of the writing goals and tasks for your session.
4. Connect through the link 5 minutes before the event. Please note that we start on time (not by MIT time).

What to expect during this event:
1. We will start with a short announcement about this program;
2. We will ask all participants to fill out a writing goal for the session and a few specific tasks;
3. About 5 minutes before the end of the program, we will ask everyone to reflect on the progress ad share what they were able to accomplish.

PLEASE NOTE: Those who attend at least five sessions during one challenge will be entered into a raffle to win one of three gift-card prizes. For each additional session you attend, you will receive a raffle entry. The raffle drawing will take place on Friday, June 30 (Challenge 1), and Friday, August 4 (Challenge 2), at 11am.
