READINGS, WORKSHOPS,
AND CONCERTS!
Opening Up Creative
Expression in Middle Georgia
MLT’s brand new Readings, Workshops, and Concerts Series
(RWC@MLT) explores original creative expression by Middle Georgia performing
artists. We will accept
proposals from guest directors for this series that will run on a single
weekend during the year. These productions are meant to try out a
new idea on an abbreviated production process. We especially welcome original ideas and performances that advance
diversity, equity, inclusion and access at MLT.
Policies for RWC@MLT are as follows. By completing the
application, you agree to abide by these policies during the rehearsal and run
of the show:
1.
The theme of RWC@MLT is primarily readings,
workshops, and concerts – we are trying to advance new and more experimental work
in Middle Georgia. Therefore, crucially, the content of all proposals must be
in the public domain, available to obtain with an ASCAP license, or a new
performance with original authorship. Do not submit a proposal that requires
payment for a new performance license. Please contact JP Haynie at hayniemlt@yahoo.com if you have questions
about what will qualify.
2.
These are meant to be readings and workshop
performances, not fully mounted productions, and RWC@MLT is meant to not take
away from the MLT mainstage productions. Therefore, your proposal should
require no more than 10-15 hours of rehearsal with performers (this is not just
to use the theatre, but in general for your proposal).
3.
You must bring all scenic, costume, and props
needed with you – or have an approved list of what will be pulled from MLT
stock by our staff compiled no less than 14 days in advance of your production
date.
4.
You are responsible as the lead producer/director
to create the performances described in the proposal.
5.
The performances must take place in a single
weekend, with no more than three showtimes in total over a period of two days.
