Mission US (
mission-us.org) is the award-winning series of history learning games designed for middle school students, from flagship PBS station WNET. We collaborate with educators, game makers, educational researchers, universities, community-based organizations, history learning organizations, and others who share our mission to leverage the power of interactive media to engage young people in the study of U.S. history and help them develop greater historical perspective and empathy.
As we look to the future of Mission US, we are creating a new advisory board of educators, parents, students, and other stakeholders to help guide ongoing work to revitalize, strengthen, and expand the series. In 2021, the Mission US team is in production on a new game about the 1960s civil rights movement and is planning for the revitalization of "Flight to Freedom," our game about slavery and abolitionism in the 1850s, and new missions. We anticipate that advisors will participate in 2-3 virtual meetings and review selected materials over the course of the year. If you are interested in participating, please complete the following questions to let us know about yourself and your interest in the project by Friday, April 30, 2021.
