ESCALATOR community needs assessment
ESCALATOR is a programme developed by the South African Centre for Digital Language Resources (SADiLaR) to support the development of a community of practice around digital and computational research in Humanities and Social Sciences in South Africa.

We want to make this community accessible and welcoming and we want to develop a programme that addresses actual needs of our community members.

The ESCALATOR programme are developed to support humanities and social sciences and all related fields. We expect our community members to include librarians, IT staff, researchers, lecturers, students. We also know that traditional definitions of humanities and social sciences may exclude some community members, therefore we also welcome folks from education, engineering, and almost any other area.
How would you rate your proficiency in digital/computational research practices? *
We do not define digital/computational research practices here, because it can mean many things to different people, depending on their area of work. This does not necessarily refer to programming, but can include digitisation, the use of digital tools, data sets and platforms, and more.
