PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
It is a legal requirement that your child attends school when it is open.

Leave can only be approved by the Headteacher and ONLY FOR EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

The Headteacher will only approve up to a MAXIMUM OF 5 SCHOOL DAYS PER CHILD PER SCHOOL YEAR.

Leave for holidays CANNOT BE APPROVED for your child. Holidays DO NOT QUALIFY as an exceptional reason, neither do flights/holidays being cheaper or there being a need to "visit family/friends". Travel for medical needs abroad is also not a valid reason.

The Headteacher is the only person that can determine if your request is considered acceptable.

If you feel you have an exceptional circumstance for a future school absence then you must apply to the Headteacher using this form. Someone will then contact you to discuss the matter or to seek clarification,if needed.

You should ideally apply a MINIMUM of 7 CALENDAR DAYS BEFORE the leave.

PLEASE NOTE:
Your child's current attendance record will be taken into account.

Exceptional Leave will not be granted to ANY CHILD with an attendance percentage of LESS THAN 90% (in the current school year - September to July).

The number and frequency of any previous requests will also be taken into consideration.

Any leave taken without the Headteacher's PRIOR approval will be recorded as unauthorized absence and a PENALTY NOTICE will be issued.

PENALTY NOTICES WILL BE £60 PER PARENT IF PAID WITHIN 21 DAYS OF BEING ISSUED.

THE PENALTY FEE WILL RISE TO £120 PER PARENT IF IT REMAINS UNPAID AT 28 DAYS.

NON-PAYMENT MAY RESULT IN YOUR PROSECUTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT LEGISLATION.
