Yale Review of International Studies Staff Application - Spring 2022
Thank you for your interest in applying to join the Yale Review of International Studies (YRIS).

YRIS is Yale's undergraduate international affairs journal, dedicated to publishing opinion and long-form scholarship on contemporary and historical global issues broadly defined. As a journal of ideas with an international scope, our reach extends far beyond Yale and New Haven. We work with writers and editors around the world to make research accessible, challenge conventional wisdom, and thoughtfully explore issues underrepresented or misunderstood. Our open-access academic journal, released quarterly and open to undergraduates anywhere in the world, seeks to broaden the debate on issues ranging from foreign policy and regional studies to international trends in law, culture, and the environment. Increasingly we also feature new forms of media, such as podcasts, blogs, and visual arts.

Staff writers are organized into regional or thematic 'desks': small groups of writers who help one another pitch, edit and write monthly articles. Our design team puts together our beautiful print issues, and contributing writers have gone on to publications such as Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, and the Washington Post.

If you wish to apply as a staff writer or designer, please fill out each part of this application and submit by 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, February 2nd. Writing or editing experience is not necessary to apply!

We look forward to hearing from you! Please reach out to yris@yira.org with any questions or concerns.

YRIS is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive and diverse environment in our publication. Successful staff writers should (and will) mirror that commitment to diversity in the fields of publishing and international relations more broadly. We expect staff writers to be thoughtful, generous, and empathetic when writing about issues that affect communities beyond Yale and the United States.
