Learning Event #8 - 12.9.20
What is the 6th Commandment? *
Martin Luther writes in the Small Catechism that we are to "fear and love God so that we lead a pure and decent life in what we say and do, and spouses love and honor each other." How can you show someone that you love and honor them? *
List 3 personality or spiritual traits you would look for in a future spouse or partner.  Why are these important to you? *
Think of some people who are important in your "circle" (the people you associate with - family, friends, teachers, etc.).  How do they show that they love and honor you?  How do you show that you love and honor them? *
Most of the time, when we think about adultery, we think about a spouse cheating on their partner.  How does our society view adultery?  What messages do we get from the media in regards to sexual relations? *
Leading a life of purity and decency can be hard, especially when it comes to peer pressure.  Have you ever felt pressured to do something that went against your moral code?  What did you do in that situation? *
Matthew 15:18-19 tells us where adultery and sin come from - "But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this is what defiles. For out of the heart come evil intentions, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander."  How can you keep your heart pure so that you do not fall into these "evil intentions"? *
