FOSTER APPLICATION FORM
FOSTERING TERMS AND CONDITIONS: (updated 4 October 2023)

1. In order to be considered for fostering, you must:

∙ Be at least 18 years of age.
∙ Have the consent of all other parties staying in the same household with you.
∙ Have the necessary consent of your landlord if you are renting.
∙ Be responsible and physically capable of caring for an animal in terms of feeding
and medical needs.

2. Understand that if the animal has not completed its vaccinations, it cannot be around other unvaccinated animals, as this poses a risk for them catching the following:
∙ Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), Panleukopenia, Snuffles or other diseases.

3. Be communicative, responsive on WhatsApp and take good clear pictures and videos of your fosters for adoption advertising purposes.

4. Be able to provide cat litter at your own expense (medical costs and food will be covered by Luna Cat Rescue).

5. Understand that if the animal requires medical attention, contact must first be made with Luna Cat Rescue.
∙ If unable to contact the organisation first, the only vet practice that can be used is Penzance Veterinary Clinic in Hout Bay (we have a welfare rate agreement with them).
∙ If it is a life threatening emergency and it is after- hours, a 24 hour veterinary practice may be used, IF you have informed one of the Luna Cat Rescue team and they agree.

6. You may not move the cat(s) from your home unless we ask you to. This will usually only be for vet visits.

7. You will keep windows and doors closed, unless they are thoroughly cat-proofed. Do not underestimate the ability of a cat to squeeze through the tiniest of gaps! (Ask us if you are not sure.) If your foster cat does escape or disappear, please contact us immediately, 24 hours a day.

8. Please keep all toilet lids closed, and insist other residents and guests do the same. Kittens especially are fascinated by toilets and can easily fall in. (A sticker on the toilet is a good way to remember to do this!)

9. If you will be away overnight or longer you will let us know in advance, along with your plans for a cat sitter.

10. You agree to exclusively foster for Luna Cat Rescue and agree not to foster for another organisation at the same time. Our health protocols and procedures mean we can't home our rescues alongside another organisation's cats.

11. We put a lot of time and effort into training our foster parents, please only apply if you are planning on fostering more than once.

12. You agree to make yourself available for visits from prospective adopters at fairly short notice. Visits can be limited to 20-30 minutes, but it is so important that adopters can visit the cat or kitten within a day or two of inquiring.

13. If you are unable to continue caring for the cat/kitten, you agree to contact Luna Cat Rescue immediately and to keep the cat in your care until we find a new foster home.
