2024 URSCA CONFERENCE MODERATOR SIGN-UP
The 35th Undergraduate Research, Scholarship & Creative Activities Conference (URSCA) will take place on Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th.

Thank you for agreeing to moderate!  URSCA simply cannot happen without your support and participation.

Presentation formats will be Poster, Oral and Art and Design Exhibit.  All Conference events will follow university, county and state public health guidelines, which are subject to change.  Should circumstances change to prohibit conducting an in-person conference, the Conference will be held on-line using a virtual conference platform. The URC will notify you of any necessary changes.

The conference format and schedule is noted below.  Since we are in the early planning stages, this information may be subject to change.  By signing up, however, we are counting on your assistance in April 2024, regardless of the format.

IN-PERSON CONFERENCE MODERATORS:

Poster Moderator Information
The Poster Sessions will take place from 2pm - 5pm on Friday, April 26th in the afternoon/early evening hours in the University Credit Union Center (U Center) which was previously known as the ARC Pavilion. Each moderator is responsible for just one of the hour-long sessions (unless you opt for more than one session). During the session, the moderator is assigned five (5) scholarly posters related or closely related to their discipline.  Faculty moderators are asked to visit each assigned poster to hear the presentation, ask questions, and present a certificate of participation to the student(s).

Arts and Design Exhibit Moderator Information
The Arts and Design Exhibit runs concurrently to the Poster Sessions from 2pm - 5pm on Friday, April 26th in the U Center. Each moderator for the Arts and Design Exhibit will be assigned no more than five (5) Arts and Design Exhibit installations. We ask that the moderator visit each installation, interact with the student, ask questions, and present them with their certificate of participation. Moderating duties should take less than one hour and can happen at any time during Conference hours on Friday.

Oral Moderator Information
The Oral Sessions will take place on Saturday, April 27th from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. in Wellman Hall. Each moderator will lead one 90-minute session beginning at either 1:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. Each session has a maximum of six (6) student presenters. Oral moderators are expected to welcome the guests, introduce student presenters, ask questions, keep the session running on time, and present the student presenters with their certificate.  A packet with the list of presenters in order, instructions, and cards with minutes left alerts for the presenters will be provided to faculty moderators at check-in.

Presenter Certificates will be distributed by moderators after each talk.

Please take a moment to answer the questions below to let us know your willingness to serve as a moderator to provide feedback and ask questions to presenters. We will contact moderator volunteers with session and scheduling details after student registration is completed in late February.  Questions:  urc@ucdavis.edu
