Whether you call it 'naturism', 'nudism', or anything else, the popularity of taking part in nude recreational activities is on the rise. More and more people are heading for nude and clothes-optional places when they want to get away from it all, such as nude beaches, naked yoga or exercise classes, hiking or walking naked in the countryside, and many more naked activities than can be listed here. If you can think of it, the chances are that there is a non-sexual nude version of it going on somewhere.
This short questionnaire is intended to get some idea of public attitudes to such randomly encountered non-sexual nudity. How do you react if you walk into a situation and find that some or all of the people there are naked? What would you do if you encountered unexpected nudity "in the wild"?
The questions are not all-encompassing and there are many situations where you might encounter nudity that are not mentioned here at all, but they have been chosen to give a reasonably broad spread of circumstances. The survey is mostly multiple choice and we have picked answers that we think cover the most likely responses, but if you feel that you would like to add anything to your answers there is a free text response box at the end of each section.
Throughout this questionnaire, when we talk about someone being naked, unless otherwise specified we mean that they are completely naked or wearing so little that it makes no practical difference (e.g. shoes, or a hat). We have deliberately avoided specifying if the person you randomly encounter in the nude is male or female to allow you to interpret this how you wish. If it makes a big difference to you whether the person is male or female then please mention this in one of the free text boxes at the end of the sections.
