Thank you for your interest in becoming a Hardy Girls Muse! Muses are our volunteer facilitators that run our Coalition Groups (CGs) in local elementary and middle schools. Any nonbinary or woman-identified student enrolled at a local college or university in the Bangor/Orono area is welcome to apply, and no experience working with youth is required. Before beginning work in schools, you will receive training, be paired with a co-Muse, and pass a background check.
The time commitment for the Muse volunteer position is about 2 hours a week, and you will be working in a local school with your co-Muse.
The CGs are designed to develop critical thinking and scaffold youth-driven activism for middle school aged gender expansive youth and girls across the state of Maine. Groups run continuously for a full year, and the Muses are encouraged to participate for the duration. Groups reach the highest level of impact when the group members and Muses are a consistent group.
Please note that attendance at a training is necessary to volunteer as a Muse. Trainings will be held virtually on a date TBD.
