Rooted in IWU's mission, the Justice Scholars is a program focused on justice issues, diversity, and environmental sustainability. The J-Scholars Program will enhance student’s personal and intellectual development through knowledge, research, civic engagement, mentorship, and community.

Please respond to the following prompt (up to 750 words):

At IWU we believe, Justice is the outcome of dismantling barriers to resources and opportunities for people who live in marginalized communities. Justice occurs when all individuals can live a full and dignified life and all communities can thrive.

Describe an initiative you lead or have been a part of that aligns with IWU's definition of justice. How did this experience shape your understanding of social justice issues? How have you worked to break down barriers?

If you haven't had the opportunity to lead or be a part of a justice related initiative as of yet, what barriers to justice have you seen in your life? How has this shaped your view on justice and dismantling inequity?
