Road(S): A common EU framework of core sustainability indicators for road infrastructure (Part 1)

Taking Level(s) as example (https://environment.ec.europa.eu/topics/circular-economy/levels_en), the Universities of Granada and Bologna are working in Road(S), which pretends to be a common EU framework of core indicators of sustainability for road infrastructure. It looks for reporting on and improving the performance of new but also existing road infrastructure, as well as give guidelines to adapt these infrastructures to nowadays sustainability concept.

Road(S) could be used by governments and administrations that play a role in the planning, design, financing, executing and operating of road infrastructures to make a clear contribution to broader environmental improvements at European level.

Road(S) aims to establish a common language of sustainability for road infrastructures by defining core indicators for their sustainability. This set of indicators will constitute common metrics for measuring the sustainability performance of road infrastructure along its life cycle assessing the following 7 areas or macro-objectives, in which these indicators could be classified according to the strategic priorities of the EU and Member State policy objectives in this matter.

With the objective to design the core indicators of sustainability for road infrastructure, it is necessary your experience on this topic. The proposal will be designed taking into account the results of several short surveys which will take only a few minutes. Your contribution is really important for us. Final results will be shared with all the interested in the proposal.

This first survey aims to define the set of macro-objectives under which the indicators will be identified and classified later.
