During your 5th and 6th grade years, you will have the opportunity to serve your school on the Safety Leadership Action Team. As a team, we must SYNERGIZE and BE PROACTIVE to ensure the safety of the students, teachers, and parents as they come to and leave the school each morning and afternooon. This job is a SERIOUS responsibility.

5th grade duty begins at 8:10AM and ends at 8:25AM.
6th grade duty begins at 2:55PM and ends at 3:15PM.

Each class will have one Safety Leader Captain. This job will be chosen by your teacher. The Captain will sign up students for available positions on their assigned time. The Captain will go outside with their team to monitor them and make sure they are performing their duties properly. You and your class will be setting up and putting away the equipment PROPERLY. This means hanging up vests, having signs put away neatly, and placing cones in the 6th grade TPR neatly and in the right place. Below are the rules that Safety Leadership Team members must follow in order to remain on our Safety Leadership Team:

1. Be proactive! You must be at your position ON TIME! If you are not on patrol on time, another student will fill your position.

2. While on duty, Safety Leaders must be attentive, responsible, kind and helpful. Therefore, any member reported to be "messing around," jeopardizing the safety of others or treating other students disrespectfully will be given a strike.

3. As a Safety Leader, your responsibility to your school is highly important! You should be at school and on time as often as possible. You should be consistent in turning in projects and homework and should not break any school rules. Students that have a consistent issue with any of these requirements may be removed from the Safety Leadership Team.

4. Safety Leadership Team members have a "Two Strikes and You're Out" rule. This means that if you miss two duty times, without notifying your group Captain or teacher ahead of time, you will be removed from our Safety Leadership Team.

Because of the long-term commitment required, there will be periodic rewards for all members of our Safety Leadership Team that meet the requirements listed above.
