Are you interested in agriculture, food justice & sovereignty, urban farms, ecology, environmental science and/ or food sciences and looking for hands-on learning? We got you!
Project SEMBRAR - funded by the US Department of Agriculture will be recruiting 15 students for a summer, paid experiential learning program. Students will engage hands-on learning centered around topics in food justice, food sovereignty, urban ecology, aquaponics, urban rooftop farming, honeybee education and a culminating citizen science project. Our external collaborators include Oko farms, City Growers, Newtown Creek Alliance, Kingsland wildflowers and Connected Chef.

This is a competitive application. Students will be paid a stipend of $1,200 for participation and completion of the program along with a certificate of completion. In order to qualify, students should have a GPA of 3.0 (as of Fall 2022) and above, have 20 or more credits accumulated by Spring 2022 and an interest in food justice, food sovereignty, environmental science and/or urban farming. Preference will be given to students who have taken any Biology, Chemistry, Environmental or Nutrition and Culinary Management courses.
