8th Grade Self Defense Permission Slip
Dear Parents,

Your child has the opportunity to participate in a self defense lesson during physical education class taught by the physical education department.  The focus will be; awareness, avoidance, boundary setting, confidence building, and the use of voice as a weapon.  They will be taught some practical self defense techniques with minimal confrontation. The information is age appropriate, fun and empowering. The lessons will take place on Monday's in May.

Topics Covered

Prevention and Verbal self defense
Physical and Mental aspects of self-defense
Stranger Awareness vs Acquaintance assaults
A.B.C's of Self Defense: Awareness, Boundaries, and Confidence
Hands-on practical self defense techniques

A portion of this unit will deal with sexual assaults. If you agree or disagree that your that your child may participate in the class, please fill out the form and submit.  If you have any questions please contact your students physical education teacher.
