Application for tutoring and marking in UOA Maths: Semester 1, 2024
Dear students,

This is an invitation to apply for tutoring and marking work in the University of Auckland's Department of Mathematics in semester 1, 2024 ( Monday 26 February 2024 to Friday 31 May 2024).  The application must be submitted by the end of 17January 2024. This is an open invitation, and you are welcome to share it with other students who you think may be interested. Normally only students enrolled in UOA degree programmes are eligible to apply, and we employ both graduate and undergraduate students with strong mathematics backgrounds. Undergraduates are typically offered marking or time working in the assistance room, rather than tutorials, although there are some exceptions to this.

The mathematics department also may hire some of the tutors/markers for COMPSCI 120 and/or COMPSCI 225, so they are included on our lists of courses.

We expect the assistance room and tutorials (with some very minor exceptions) will run in person rather than online.

Note that for some smaller courses we may elect not to hire a tutor or marker, if the number of students enrolled does not warrant it.

If your availability changes after filling in the sheet, please email Jonny Stephenson at jonny.stephenson@auckland.ac.nz urgently.

If you have any questions, please also feel free to get in touch.

Best,
Jonny

Availability for private tutoring
I am occasionally asked to help find private tutors.  If you might be willing to do private tutoring, give your email address (again) below to receive emails about such work; email addresses here may be shared with Paddy Bartlett, who also receives such requests.
Work preferences
Your preferences will be taken into account but which work is offered depends also on your experience and background and the availability of other tutors. If there are options which you are qualified, available, and willing to do apart from your preferred choices, you should check them here, as many as possible.

Some  of our larger courses have "principal tutor" roles attached. The duties for these roles are usually assigned by the lecturer, but they can involve helping on piazza, printing tutorial sheets, or other "general support" for the course. This is usually 10 hours of work across the semester. Would you like to be considered for such roles?
