Tai Chi lessons
information and group rules:
The sessions are hosted by Chinese Community in Peterborough
(CCIP) and Chinese Women in Peterborough (CWIP).
Programme and Project Management: Chinese Community in
Peterborough and Chinese Women in Peterborough, led by Community leader
Faustina Yang, supported by volunteers team.
Media presentation and statements to the media: Any statements or press release to reporters from newspapers, radio,
television, etc. in relation to CCIP and CWIP will be given
only by the Community Leader Faustina Yang. No one should speak on behalf of CCIP or CWIP without discussion and approval from the community leader or arranged by the community leader Faustina Yang.
Instructors: Deyin Tai Chi Institute is contacted to provide instructors to teach the lessons. We can not accept
instructors from 3rd parties as it is not covered by our insurance.
Volunteers: CCIP and CWIP volunteers are appointed by
Community Leader Faustina Yang. We have casual volunteers and formal long term volunteers. DBS check and ongoing training are carried out for those who are committed to become formal volunteers.
Warming up exercise volunteer: Zhaohong Tomlinson is our
dedicated volunteer to coordinate tai chi lessons and will lead warm up exercise when a instructor is arriving late. The instructor will take over when he/she arrives. When Zhaohong is not available, alternative arrangements will
be made from the Community Leader to ask a different volunteer to lead the warm
up exercise.
Sign in sheet: everyone is required to sign in for each
session so that we can monitor numbers and this is also needed for reporting to
funders.
Tai chi session rules:
·
Arrive in advance of the lesson to avoid
disruption of the lessons.
·
Respect the instructors, do not interrupt
without permission. If you have a query during the session, raise your hand
first, then the instructor will acknowledge and ask you to speak at a suitable
time
·
There is only one instructor at each session who
is in charge, unless different arrangements are made by the community leader.
Nobody should be going to the front to overtake the instructor or speak over
the instructor. Such behaviour is not respectful and it will not be tolerated.
We will ask you to leave if this happens.
·
Respect others, respect different cultures and
ethnicities, different abilities, and people's other differences
·
Zero tolerance to harassment, bullying,
discrimination towards anyone in the session. If this happens, we will remove the person with such behaviour from the sessions and the WhatsApp group for the health and safety of our participants and ensure we maintain a friendly environment
·
Raising issues process: raise with Community
Leader Faustina Yang directly to allow us to address the issue, when the community
leader is unavailable, with permission, raise with tai chi activity deputy
Zhaohong Tomlinson. For sensitive matters, please request a confidential chat
so that we are mindful of the environment and confidentiality.
· Commit to provide feedback regularly – this is important!
Good feedback motivates the team and participants; constructive feedback will
help us make adjustments and improve continuously.
·
Photos and videos consent – it is part of our project
that we need to gather photos and videos for reporting to funders and also
promote and raise awareness of this community health initiative. If you do not
give consent it is completely ok, just ensure you make the community leader and
volunteers aware. The Community Leader holds the record of consents from participants when you signed up.
· Social media and press - if you use social media, you are invited to follow our social media , when sharing posts and pictures from our pages, or from tai chi sessions, please kindly quote Chinese Community in Peterborough and Chinese Women in Peterborough, so that you can help us increase reach and raise awareness of the benefits of tai chi and the programme we are running. If you do not use social media, it is completely ok, you can help by word of mouth, telling friends and families. We would really appreciate this.
