Introduction: Welcome to our 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We are continuing each week to learn more and more about Jesus' teaching during this time. In today's Gospel reading we find Jesus at the Sabbath synagogue worship where he expels an evil spirit out of a man who interrupts his teaching. All of the people who witness this are amazed at his authority. They begin saying that he is a far greater teacher than any of the rabbis. This is actually the first cure that Jesus performs as he begins his public ministry. So let's take a look at page 3 in your January 31st Gospel Weekly and read the Sunday Gospel "Jesus Shows His Power". When you are done please answer the questions below.

Great job! Now take a moment to look at, and read, the Catholic Faith Word for the week on page 3. The Gospel today tells us about the first cure, or "miracle", that Jesus performed in his public ministry. Jesus has God's power to teach and heal. Jesus shows the power of love and concern for the man when he removes the unclean spirit from him. Jesus healed the man because he was was bringing the message of God's great love to us. Jesus wants us to also show our belief in God through loving words and actions,
Now take a couple of minutes to print out, from this weeks lesson links, the "Jesus Drives Out an Unclean Spirit" puzzle and see if you can answer all the questions!! Good luck and have fun!!
