ASTA Learning Opportunities in Atlanta 2022
The American String Teachers Association (ASTA) is inviting its members to serve as clinicians for schools in the Atlanta area which are usually unable to have clinicians come work with their ensembles. Clinicians will be available for schools on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

ASTA is also inviting its members to serve as master teachers for 30-minute private lessons with string students in the Atlanta area who may not currently have access to private instruction. Private instruction will be available on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 during and after the school day. Private instruction will occur at the Atlanta Hyatt Regency, 265 Peachtree NE, Atlanta. Students participating in the private lessons must be accompanied by a responsible adult and that adult will remain with the student at all times, including during the instruction.

This form will collect information from Atlanta area string educators who are interested in having their ensemble and/or their students participate in these learning opportunities.

The ASTA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee will help match ASTA members with students and schools who have expressed interest. Placements will be made based on availability, scheduling, and fit based on your program and students and the ASTA members who have volunteered to serve.

Questions For Those Requesting A Clinician
If you are interested in having an ASTA member serve as a clinician for your ensemble, please answer the following questions. If not, please move on to the questions pertaining to private lessons for your students.
Please provide information on your school ensemble: grade levels, performance level, number of students, students with different levels of experience and/or differing abilities,  length and availablility of instruction. (For example - 7-8th grade string ensemble, 2nd and 3rd year players, 40 students, 3 of whom have adaptive needs in the classroom, we meet every other day for 60 minutes.)
Please speak to why you would like a clinician to come work with your students? Include information on other experiences (if any) your students have had, and what you hope to accomplish with the visiting clinician.
Please describe the school and community you serve. What are the demographics of the students in your school? For example, is your school a Title I school? What else should we know about the school as we consider clinicians to serve you?
What information will you need from ASTA to confirm a visiting clinician with your school administration (forms, consents, background checks, etc.)?
What time would work best for the clinician to work with you ensemble on Wednesday, March 16? (please select all that can work for you)
Questions For Those Requesting Private Lessons For Your Students
If you are interested in having your students considered for private lessons at the ASTA Convention Site, please fill out this section.
The intent of these 30-minute private lessons is to support the students in their string learning and inspire them on in their study. Considering the students in your program, particularly those without access to ongoing private instruction who show interest and promise on their instrument, how many of your students would you like to participate in the private lesson opportunity? (Maximum number per school is 5)
Clear selection
Briefly describe the students you are recommending for private instruction. Include their instrument, years of study, example of piece they are learning now, and demographic information. Our intent is to try and match teachers of similar demographic backgrounds with the students served in this program. (Example: Student 1, cello, 4 years, Suzuki book 2, Latin-American, English Language Learner)
Please describe the school and community you serve. What are the demographics of the students in your school?   If you have already filled this out in the earlier section, you may skip answering it again here.
Which times could your students come for private lessons? If your students are selected, we will reach out to you to coordinate scheduling. Please keep in mind that students will need to be accompanied by an adult to the Hyatt Regency for their lesson, and the adult will remain with the student during the lesson. Please check all that apply.
I understand that these opportunities are provided as an optional benefit to the string programs and students in the Atlanta area as an outreach program by the American String Teachers Association. I agree to partner with ASTA to the best of my ability if my program and/or students are chosen to participate, including coordinating times, releases and permissions, and COVID-19 precautions as necessary. I agree to be available via email and/or phone to work in coordination with ASTA and its volunteers in a timely fashion. *
