Special Education Fall Support Family Survey
The Northampton School Committee voted to provide a remote plan for our school district through Nov 4. However, the remote plan allows for some in-person support, up to 5 days per week, for students who have IEPs, English Language Learners, homeless and foster students, and students with no internet.

This survey is specific to students with IEPs. We will also be contacting families of children who are English Language Learners, homeless, foster students or children without internet. Students with 504s will receive accommodations and services as part of their remote learning plan.

The district is committed to providing a robust remote learning plan for students, and families can opt for fully remote services even if their child is eligible for in-person services.

The purpose of this survey is to understand what your needs are for your families at this time. However, it is important to note that our current staffing is being developed, so while we are hoping to get this important information from you, this does not guarantee what your child's specific plan will look like. We understand that it is difficult for families to plan until they have more information. We will be communicating with families about your child's plan as soon as we have more specific information.

The district is committed to supporting our students, families and educators while keeping safety as a top priority. If you would like to learn more about some of the safety measures we will have in place, please see the bottom of this document.

Please complete the following survey. If we do not hear from you by Friday, August 14, we will be reaching out by phone. If you have multiple children who are eligible for in-person services, please complete this survey separately for each of them.

Our district has developed safety protocols for providing services and instruction to students and have had those structures in place during our summer program. NPS planned and prepared early on and is equipped with PPE for a wide range of needs - masks, shields, goggles, gowns, cleaning spray, wipes. Whenever possible, student work areas are kept specific to them. In the case of drop in services (for instance, an OT who works with one student for 30 minutes and another student after), we have time built into the schedule for sanitizing. Any shared materials are disinfected between sessions. For students who are not able to wear masks due to their disability, our staff are wearing additional PPE. Our spaces have appropriate ventilation and for students who are in a shared classroom space, the students are seated at least 6 feet apart. We know that some of our students are immunocompromised. We have developed safety procedures to ensure they can access services in-person. If you have questions specific to safety procedures, please share them below.
