IT IS THE SOUTH ROYALTON COMMUNITY GARDEN'S POLICY TO ABIDE BY THE STANDARDS OF ORGANIC GARDENING FOR ALL PLOT OPTIONS. Everyone who grows food at the Community Garden must agree to only plant organic crops and follow organic gardening standards for plot maintenance. (

Individual (Private) Plot: This option is for the experienced gardener who wants to manager their own plot organically for their own purposes. Plots are 20'x20', and there is
a sliding scale fee, with a recommended minimum of $20-50 to support ongoing garden maintenance. There is also a required $20 deposit which will be returned if you properly clean up your plot before November 1st and/or engage in one of the season's two garden clean-up days. This option is not available for individuals new to gardening.
Collaborative Plot: This option is for a group of individuals who are interested in managing a plot collectively. This option is ideal for student or friend groups who are interested in gardening organically together and who may not have the time to manage their own plot. Plots are 20'x20', and there is a sliding scale fee, with a recommended minimum of $20-50 to support ongoing garden maintenance. There is also a required $20 deposit which will be returned if you properly clean up your plot before November 1st and/or engage in one of the season's two garden clean-up days. The fees can be divided among the members of the collaborative group.
Open Space: This option is ideal for individuals who are newer to gardening, or individuals who are interested in learning more about organic gardening from experienced growers, or individuals who are interested in being more involved with the community at large. The garden's open space is managed by a Community Garden Committee, and open gardening hours are facilitated where anyone can show up, learn how to garden, and take home a share of the harvest. Harvests from the Open Space are also shared with the Royalton Food Shelf and Free Food Pantry outside of BALE in downtown South Royalton. There is no limit to how much a person can participate in the open space, nor is there a minimum for participation. This option is free of charge.
