Policies regarding Student Apartments & Family Housing (SAFH) at Southern Oregon University are established by the Oregon System of Higher Education and approved by the SOU Board of Trustees. A petition is filed with the University Housing Office when an exception to a rule is requested or when a tenant has a dispute about a bill.

Generally, your petition would be acted upon within seven (7) calendar days from the date the petition was received by the Office Coordinator for University Housing, unless there are unusual circumstances. For instance, during holidays and break periods, there will be delays in the processing of new petitions. If your petition is denied, you may request (in writing) to appeal this decision, which would be forwarded to the University Housing Policy & Appeals Committee within ten (10) calendar days. Decisions by the committee are final.
