How could new homes built in Lockleaze address the housing needs in our community?
Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust continues to work with residents to understand local housing needs. As part of this, we want your opinion on how a Local Lettings Policy could shape the allocation of social rented housing and give the community the chance to shape how Lockleaze grows in the future.

A Local Lettings Policy would sit alongside Bristol City Council's existing Home Choice allocation system which offers homes across the city to people on the housing register according to four bands of priority. Home Choice bands can be found here: https://www.homechoicebristol.co.uk/content/Bands/Bands

Local Lettings Policies can strengthen housing provision to meet local needs and give residents a chance to stay within their support networks. The policy can be designed to address specific needs identified by the community. This could include elderly residents who wish to downsize or younger residents looking for homes in their home neighbourhood. To be allocated a home for social rent, any applicant must be on the housing register.

Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust is producing a Local Lettings Policy that will be applied to the Turner Gardens gateway community housing project. However, the process could provide a template to promote the additional Local Lettings Policies to future developments in Lockleaze.

The community conversation around Local Lettings will be the driving force behind the direction and decision-making of the policy. Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust will continue to engage with the community throughout the process.
