Entries now closed.
(*)As a trial the upper age limit for this event is being extended to U16 rather than U12.
(**) During the pandemic period the school were very kindly operating a reduced letting fee. With a return to their normal pricing I am increasing the entry fee from £20 to £24.
(***) I am aware this July event clashes with the second gigafinal for older age groups. Sorry - no other dates are possible.

Entry fee £24(**), entrants must be ECF silver members or above
Capacity: 48
Sections: 6 x 8 player all-play-all, 7 rounds
All sections will be ECF rated and I hope to FIDE rate the top 1 or 2 sections. The bottom section will be suitable for beginners with little experience of tournament chess.
Prizes : Trophies of 1st/2nd/3rd in each section ; medals for those missing out on a trophy by tie-break; small chocolate prizes for all U8s
Time control: Top sections: 20 min + 10 sec, bottom sections 15 min + 10 second (may be adjusted)
Children must be under the age of 16 on 31st August 2020 (school year 11 or lower). Children aged 11 or over on the day of the tournament must wear a face covering during play.
The overall capacity is 48 children. Children will be split by strength into all-play-all sections. For this purpose a mixture of the July 2020 OTB ECF grading list, current ECF online and OTB ratings, and current lichess rapid ratings will be used.
This tournament assumes the government roadmap continues to proceed to plan, with no additional restrictions brought in.
