Please note the following important information:
UCD PME students are required to complete a minimum of 4.5 teaching hours per week, with a maximum of 8 hours, during their school placement, and are required to be physically present in schools on a minimum of three days.
Students are required to be in lectures in UCD as follows:
-Monday afternoon from 2pm
-Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon/evening depending on their methods subjects
-Thursday all day
When students are expected to be in UCD for mandatory lectures, they are not available to schools.
We would caution you not to take on more than ONE TY group if possible, as due to the nature of this year group, classes can be disrupted impinging on observations and class contact time.
We would also ask you to seek clarification regarding CBAs when you are organising your placement. It has come to our attention that in some cases student teachers are left with full responsibility for CBAs and we would caution you to be clear of the expectations of the school in this regard before you commit to any placement.
Your school may require you to commence your placement at the end of August and to be available until the end of the school year. It is important therefore that you establish the school's expectations prior to accepting my placement and if you make a commitment, you should honor it to the best of your ability.
